Underhand Throw
Good Morning St. Clare Friends!
The forecast looks good to get outside, move your body and learn something new! This week we are going to work on further developing our underhand throw!
Key Skills for Success:
1) Eyes on the target and facing the target
2) Bring throwing arm back before you throw.
3) Step with the opposite foot that you throw with.
4) Release ball between knee and waist.
5) Your throwing arm should follow through to your target.
Materials:
- a couple of balls that can be held in the palm of your hand (tennis balls, smaller utility ball, rolled up socks)
- bucket or box for target
-paper and pencil for tic tac toe game
Practice:
Standing 5 to 10 paces away from target (bucket) practice throwing your equipment using the key skills mentioned about.
Game: Tic Tac Toe Throwing
- Start with a game of rock paper scissors to decide who gets to go first and choose X's or O's.
- Take turns throwing the ball at the target trying to get ball into bucket.
- If successful, mark X or O on the tic-tac-toe board.
- If you don't get ball into bucket, partner takes turn.
- First player to get 3 in a row (up/down, sideways, or diagonal) wins.
