Good Morning St. Clare Friends! Well we are on the home stretch of officially wrapping up the 2019/2020 school year! We have survived! I hope you continue to value the importance of how important it is to  STAY ACTIVE !  During these unprecedented and trying times physical activity that gets your heart pumping, lungs working double time and muscles moving is so incredibly important! As we part ways for the summer remember I am here to encourage you to embrace an active lifestyle... I would LOVE to leave you with my favorite movement  quote that is posted in our school gymnasium from a Sport Check commercial a couple of years back: "You were born to move. It doesn't matter how you move, as long as it gives you goosebumps, makes you feel alive, & clears your mind. Stay that way! What moves you?" Looks like the weather is going to perk up so it will be a great day to get outside and move our bodies and get our hearts pumping with some jump rope!  Today our challenge is trying to skip with a partner attempting the following tricks below. Remember good communication always makes working with others enjoyable for everyone! Let's do it! Materials: - a skipping rope - any rope that is the correct height to jump with ** To find the right size rope, hold the handles in both hands, step on the center with both feet and pull until the rope is tight at your chest. (If it is too long simply wrap it around your hands to shorten.) It exercises your leg muscles and skipping for a few minutes is a great way to get the blood pumping through your heart and your lungs breathing hard! LET'S MOVE! Good Morning St. Clare Friends! The sun is shining bright - it's going to be a fabulous day! Let's get outside and MOVE those bodies! Getting your heart pumping and muscles moving isn't just good for your heart and body, it's also a great way to keep your brain strong and healthy too! Key Skills of Striking: - Eye on the ball. - Hold racket with dominant hand (usually hand you write with). - Ready position with knees slightly bent. - Shift weight from back to front. - Swing the arm forward to make contact with the ball. - Follow through with hand towards target and upward to opposite shoulder. Materials: - badminton or tennis racket or homemade racket with paper plate or frisbee - small ball that bounces well or tennis ball - garage door or fence to hit ball off of Game: 1) The game can start off as a single player using an underhand strike to send a ball to the wall about knee high. 2) Players must continuously move forward and back

Batter Up!

Good Morning St. Clare Friends! Let's get outside and get our bodies moving before the weather turns on us! Today we are going to use our batting skills from yesterday to play a mini game of baseball with a partner! Key Skills of Striking When Batting: - Eyes are focussed on the object - Stand sideways to the target with knees slightly bent shoulder width apart - Grip bat with two hands and have bat pulled back to shoulder ready to swing - As you swing follow through to target with straight arms making contact and then continuing swing upward to opposite shoulder Materials: -  batting stand made of toilet paper rolls and empty roll to craddle ball or large pylon on stool - small ball to hit off of stand - bat to swing with that can be pool noodle or taped together empty paper towel rolls - 2 objects to use as make shift bases, such as sand pail or pylon Game: 1) Set up batting stand and have partner play the "field" to catch your hit. Use
