Good Morning St. Clare Friends! Well this morning sure doesn't look  like spring! We seem to be back to winter! So I thought it was fitting to share this great winter activity for you and your family! It's just a little different that the traditional snowman... SNOW CATErPILLAR (courtesy: be fit for life) 1) After a fresh dump of sticky snow, make balls of snow and line them up together to create a very long caterpillar. 2) Find various items in the yard or outdoor space to give the caterpillar some character (rocks for eyes and spots, twigs for antennae). 3) Once the caterpillar is complete, see if you can jump over it! How many times can you jump over? Are some parts of the body bigger than others? Notice the different ways you have to jump - or leap over the caterpillar. BE CREATIVE Try making some bigger snowballs to make jumping more challenging. Try other ways to get over or around the caterpillar (jump, hop, leap). LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES Count how

Then when all eyes are upon me,  At the end of this big game, I will turn their eyes to You oh Lord  And to the Glory of Your Name. Get Active with Fitness Dice Game

Image
Good Morning Everyone! Today before my kids started their home learning activity we completed this activity... I have taught the students that there are 3 major muscle groups we need to exercise: 1) Arms 2) Core (stomach and lower back) 3) Legs   The exercises I have chosen are broken into the following groups mentioned above. We simply assigned an exercise to each side of the dice. Example: 1 superman exercise (for 30 seconds) 2 superman pushups 3  burpees 4  lunges 5 squats 6  crunches Each member of the family rolled twice and then we all completed exercises! We definitely got the heart pumping and muscles moving! Now time to put our brains to use with some literacy and numeracy work! Stay Active! Stay Strong! Stay Positive! Kind Regards, Sherri Anwender

Hello Everyone, I hope everyone is safe and healthy during this difficult time. We as educators are still waiting on directives from the provincial government on how teaching and learning will proceed as this is unprecedented. Thank you for your patience during this time of uncertainty. I would like to share the importance and benefits of being active and getting outside for fresh air. As we move forward, I will share several ideas of how you and your family can stay healthy and active during this time. Today I would like to start with Getting your daily D.O.S.E  D - dopamine (builds motivation, improves memory, increases creativity) O - oxytocin (develops trust, maintains optimism, promotes social skills) S - serotonin (boosts mood, regulates sleep cycle, empowers good decisions) E - endorphins (stress management, helps manage pain) When we are physically active, our body releases chemicals that can have a positive impact on our health.
