Another Day of Jump Rope Challenges!

Good Morning St. Clare Friends!

It's a gorgeous day out today! Let's get outside and feel the sun on our face and breeze in our hair! We are continuing our unit on jump rope challenging ourselves daily to increase the number of skips in a row and trying some of the new tricks I am sharing daily! So let's get our hearts pumping and muscles moving with our ropes!!! 😉
Materials:
- a skipping rope
- any rope that is the correct height to jump with

** To find the right size rope, hold the handles in both hands, step on the center with both feet and pull until the rope is tight at your chest. (If it is too long simply wrap it around your hands to shorten.)


Key Skills for Jump Rope:
1) Keep your elbows at your sides.
2) Use your wrist to turn the rope.
3) Bend your knees slightly when you land.

Activity:
1) Today I would like you to warm up with jumping over rope while walking or basic jump rope on the spot.

2) Our new jump rope skill today is "HOT PEPPER" skipping. So give it a try!


3) Set a goal for yourself that you can reach. For example, if you are in grade 3, try 3 skips in a row without a mistake. If this becomes too easy challenge yourself to add more skips in a row.

4) Our second skill to try today is "HOPSCOTCH" while skipping. Set a goal for yourself that your can reach. Remember trying something new isn't perfect the first try. Stick with it and practice. I know you can do it!
