Batter Up!

Good Morning St. Clare Friends!

Let's get outside and get our bodies moving before the weather turns on us! Today we are going to use our batting skills from yesterday to play a mini game of baseball with a partner!

Key Skills of Striking When Batting:
- Eyes are focussed on the object
- Stand sideways to the target with knees slightly bent shoulder width apart
- Grip bat with two hands and have bat pulled back to shoulder ready to swing
- As you swing follow through to target with straight arms making contact and then continuing swing upward to opposite shoulder

Materials:
- batting stand made of toilet paper rolls and empty roll to craddle ball or large pylon on stool
- small ball to hit off of stand
- bat to swing with that can be pool noodle or taped together empty paper towel rolls
- 2 objects to use as make shift bases, such as sand pail or pylon
Game:
1) Set up batting stand and have partner play the "field" to catch your hit. Use two pylons or pails to create bases for the batter to run back and forth between to get points.

2) The batter hits the ball off the tee or pylon and then runs between pylons counting points for each touch of the pylon.

3) The fielder must catch the ball and run it to the tee and yell freeze to batter. Determine batter's points and then switch roles.Repeat!
