Partner Jump Rope Challenge


Good Morning St. Clare Friends!

Looks like the weather is going to perk up so it will be a great day to get outside and move our bodies and get our hearts pumping with some jump rope! 

Today our challenge is trying to skip with a partner attempting the following tricks below. Remember good communication always makes working with others enjoyable for everyone! Let's do it!

Materials:
- a skipping rope
- any rope that is the correct height to jump with

** To find the right size rope, hold the handles in both hands, step on the center with both feet and pull until the rope is tight at your chest. (If it is too long simply wrap it around your hands to shorten.)


Key Skills for Jump Rope:
1) Keep your elbows at your sides.
2) Use your wrist to turn the rope.
3) Bend your knees slightly when you land.

Activity:
1) Today I would like you to warm up with jumping over rope while walking or basic jump rope on the spot. Challenge yourself to do 50 or up to 100 skips in a row without stopping! You can do it!!

2) Our first partner jump rope skill today is "TURNER & JUMPER " skipping. So give it a try! Make sure both partners are ready and talk as you work together to complete the challenge. Good Luck! 


* *Check this skill out in action:

** Set a goal for yourselves that you can reach. For example, try 3 partner skips in a roll without a mistake. If this becomes too easy challenge yourself to add more skips in a row.
