Spring Break Kick Off
Good Morning Everyone!
Well today is my last post for 10 days! Today I will share 10 Ideas to keep your family active over the next 10 days! See you all Monday, April 20! Remember: KEEP YOUR BODY MOVING! ;-)
** Don't be overwhelmed by today's blog, as there is A LOT below. I just don't want you to run out of ideas to stay active over the course of the break! Rather enjoy it by only looking at one challenge a day so the material lasts the whole 10 day break.
Activity Challenge #1 & 2: Active for Life
This is a great website that you can subscribe to that will send you articles of how to stay active. Here are two with wonderful ideas that I plan to use with my family over the next 10 days!
Activity Challenge #3: I Love A Challenge
Some of you may remember participating in these last June on the tarmac... I Love A Challenge is a series of 40 video challenges for elementary kids to work on physical literacy skills. They can be accessed through this website or by visiting Duff Gibson's YouTube Channel.

Activity Challenge #4: Ever Active Schools
I have already been sharing several resources with you from this site. However, over the break I would like to share this new resource that has video challenges that run Monday thru Friday on their YouTube channel called #DPAeveryday. My family has been enjoying daily "Mindful Walks" which I can proudly say we have walked EVERYDAY since school onsite stopped March 16.

Activity Challenge #5: BOKS Canada
I have also shared this resource on several blog posts but would like to remind your family not to forget about the wonderful ideas and daily workouts that can be accessed! Our family has subscribed and has been enjoying starting our day with the fitness calendar for April that includes short bursts of activity with the at home pack!

Activity Challenge #6: Dance PL3Y
I have been using this resource in the gym for several years to teach dance. Majority of the students LOVE these dances and the founder Melanie Levenberg has created free at home dance workouts through a facebook page called Pl3y Kids Fitness. Have your family get your groove on over the break with these fun dances...

Activity Challenge #7: Scavenger Hunt
Our family loves doing scavenger hunts inside and outside! There are so many great ideas on Pinterest...

Activity Challenge #8: Yard Games
Using the Pinterest app I found several fun yard games to try with my family if the weather should cooperate over the break! Some require a lot of material, but not all! We are looking forward to trying "Balloon Volleyball" with towels and partners. Get creative and see what your family can brainstorm!

Activity Challenge #9: Sidewalk Chalk & Games
Spring is never complete without decorating the sidewalk with chalk art, hopscotch or motivational quotes. Our family enjoys creating positive messages with a fitness challenge for whoever walks by, such as: " Smile! Do your happy dance for 30 seconds" or "It's OK to be different: do 5 jumping jacks"! Get creative!
Activity Challenge #10: Practice FUNdamental Manipulative Skills
Finally, when we get back to daily blogs after Easter I will be starting my FUNDamental Manipulative Skills unit... so practice some of these skills over the break:
- underhand roll (used for bowling)
- overhead throw (used in football or baseball)
- catching
- kicking (soccer)
- striking (baseball batting, volleyball, racquet sports like badminton and tennis)
- dribbling (basketball)
ENJOY!
Stay Active! Stay Strong! Stay Positive!
