Good Morning St. Clare Friends!
The sun is shining and the birds are chirping so let's take advantage of this spring weather and work on our underhand roll today!
The sun is shining and the birds are chirping so let's take advantage of this spring weather and work on our underhand roll today!
Key Skills for Success:
1) Eyes on the target.
2) Knees are bent.
3) Bring throwing arm back like "pendulum" (so keep throwing arm straight and locked at elbow)
4)Step forward with opposite foot of rolling arm.
5) Release ball low to the ground so it doesn't bounce.
6) Throwing arm follows through in motion towards target.
Materials:
- a couple of balls that can be held in palm of your hand (tennis balls, smaller utility ball)
- bucket for target (simply tip over)
- objects that can be lined up to knock over (pylon, milk jug, empty cans, light toys)
With a partner stand 5-10 paces away from each other and practice the rolling technique to each other with open legs of the partner for the target.
- Start with a game of rock paper scissors to decide who gets to go first and choose Xs or O.
Partner 1 😏 → → x(pin) ← ← Partner 2 😉
- Take turns rolling the ball at the pin trying to knock it down.
- If successful, mark X or O on the tic-tac-toe board.
- If you don't knock a pin down, partner takes turn.
- First player to get 3 in a row (up/down, sideways, or diagonal) wins.
Stay Active! Stay Strong! Stay Positive!
