Dribble Keep Away

Good Morning St. Clare Friends!

Well the day began with sunshine but the clouds are quickly rolling in! Let's get outside and get that heart pumping and muscles moving!

Today we are continuing with basketball dribbling. However, today we are going to challenge ourselves to dribble and keep the ball away from a partner!

Person Playing Basketball Clipart

Key Skills of Dribbling (with your hands):
- eyes are looking forward, only glancing at the ball occasionally to maintain control
- slight forward lean, flexed at the knee and waist
- fingers are relaxed and spread out, making contact with finger tips
- dribble ball at waist level, keeping ball close to body to protect it
- ball is pushed toward the floor, not slapped

** If you do not have a basketball use a bouncy utility ball full of air!

Game:
1) When the signal is given, player with ball dribbles within their square area.
2) The other partner attempts to get the ball away without making body contact.
3) If the partner with the ball gets to the end of the playing area they get a point.
4) Partners switch roles and repeat the dribble and take away within the square area.
5) The first person to receive 5 points dribbling to the end of play area wins.
