Fill the Cup
Good Morning St. Clare Friends!
Thankfully the rain has stopped. It's a great day to go for a walk to smell all that fresh air, see all the new green growth that comes with spring, feel the coolness of the air after the rain and hear the birds chirp!
Today we are also going to play a game on the driveway called Fill The Cup (courtesy of PHE Canada). It's a family relay to fill the cup and get your body moving with different locomotor movements!

Materials:
- 4 containers
- small objects to fill containers (lego pieces, rocks, small stuffies, etc)
- 2 dice
- paper & marker
Directions:
1) Set up one container on one side of the driveway and the other directly across from it on the other side of the driveway. Small objects are in one of the containers, while the other is left empty. Do the same with the other set of the containers about 1-2 meters away for group 2.
2) As a family choose what the 6 locomotor movements will be for each number on the dice.
Roll a 1 = run
Roll a 2 = skip
Roll a 3 = jump
Roll a 4 = gallop
Roll a 5 = hop
Roll a 6 = walk
3) Once movement in chosen, each team lines up behind their empty container with their dice.
4) On the mark to start, one member of each team rolls the dice. This number tells them how to move and how many objects to collect from the other side of the driveway from the full container.
Example: I roll a "5" so I hop on one foot to the full container and grab "5" objects then hop back to add objects to the empty container.
5) Once the first person is completed the task, partner 2 rolls the dice and also moves to the full container to grab dice determined amount of objects!
6) Play continues until full container is empty.
