Paddle Rally
Good Morning St. Clare Friends!
Another day of sunshine to be thankful for! Today we are continuing to work on the skill of striking using a paddle and a balloon. However, today we will challenge ourselves to play a game with a partner and pass the balloon back and forth.
Another day of sunshine to be thankful for! Today we are continuing to work on the skill of striking using a paddle and a balloon. However, today we will challenge ourselves to play a game with a partner and pass the balloon back and forth.

Key Skills of Striking:
- Eye on the ball.
- Hold racket with dominant hand (usually hand you write with).
- Ready position with knees slightly bent.
- Shift weight from back to front.
- Swing the arm forward to make contact with the ball.
- Follow through with hand towards target and upward to opposite shoulder.
Materials:
- badminton or tennis racket or homemade racket with paper plate
- balloon, fluff ball or balled up socks, badminton birdie or small ball
- modified net or obstacle to pass the balloon over between partners (cones, laundry basket, chairs)
2) When signal is given, players begin hitting their balloon into the air in an attempt to send it over the net.
3) The receiving player strikes the balloon to send it back over the net to keep the rally going.
4) If the balloon touches the ground, the opposite player gets the point.
5) Players cannot strike the object on their opponent's side; they must wait until the object crosses the net.
